ShoPretend privacy policy

Information we collect

When you register, we collect your name or nickname, email address, and password. Passwords are stored as hashes rather than readable text. We also keep the simulated activity associated with your account, such as your pretend balance, cart, bids, offers, orders, tracking events, and any optional ZIP code you provide to create an approximate Virtual Delivery route. We do not request a delivery street address.

Technical information

We and our service providers may process session identifiers, IP address, browser and device details, pages or features used, referral information, and server logs. This information helps us operate, secure, diagnose, and improve the service.

No payment information

ShoPretend does not ask for or collect card numbers, bank details, billing addresses, or payment credentials because no real money is charged.

How we use information

We use information to provide and protect accounts and features, keep the simulated experience working, prevent abuse, respond to requests, troubleshoot problems, meet legal obligations, and understand how the service performs.

Analytics and service providers

With your permission, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand aggregate visits and interactions. Microsoft may process technical and interaction data under its own privacy practices. We may also use providers that host, secure, or support the service; they may process information only as needed to provide those services.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information to service providers, when required by law or a valid legal request, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

Retention and security

We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including security, operational, legal, and recordkeeping needs. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can decline or withdraw analytics consent through Cookie Settings, use browser controls to manage cookies, and stop using the service at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or to object to certain processing. We may need to verify a request and may retain information where law permits or requires.

Children

ShoPretend is not directed to children under the minimum age required to consent to online services where they live. Do not use the service or provide personal information if you do not meet that age.

International processing and updates

Information may be processed where we or our service providers operate. We may update this policy as the service changes; the updated date shows when it last changed.
